Lesson1: Adjectives and Adverbs

* An adjective is used to describe a noun:
- The student is
intelligent. ("ntelligent" is an adjective. It is used to describe the noun "student").
- The weather is hot. (
"hot" is an adjective. It is used to describe the noun "weather").
- David bought an
expensive car. ("expensive" is an adjective. It is used to describe the noun "car").


* An adverb is used to describe an action (a verb). It speaks about how the action happens:
- Thomas speaks English
fluently. ("fluently" is an adverb. It is used to describe the verb "speaks". How does Thomas speaks English? fluently).
- The boy is intelligent. He answers difficult questions 
quickly. ("quickly" is an adverb. It is used to describe the verb "answers". How does the boy answer questions? quickly).
- The girl is listening to her mother
carefully. ("carefully" is an adverb. It is used to describe the verb "is listening". How is the girl listening to her mother? carefully).

* Exercise: Adjective or adverb?

- The car is (slow / slowly). John is driving his car (slow / slowly).
- Speak (polite / politely) with your parents! You should always be (polite / politely) with them.
- It is raining (heavy / heavily).
- Peter always behaves (gentle / gently) with all people.
- Uncle Smith is a (good / well) worker. He does his job (good / well).
- You should be (quiet / quietly). Do your homework (quiet / quietly).
